A delicate rose of ashes,
Tear drops and honey,
Such a sweet drug,
Unable to resist.
The temptation of sugar,
Lips painted bloody,
Quiet dreams of blasphemy,
Such a mind-numbing façade,
Only used to assist
In the Devil’s love trap.
Where girls weep and boys beg;
Life is nothing but a grand play.
Such sorrow from little beating hearts, ah-
But there’s no solace for those who are dead,

No matter how they continue breathing.

Plot:

(Sorry it's so lengthy aha u v u)

In Heian-era Japan, homosexuality is not frowned upon, is not considered taboo. In fact, many nobles and clergyman alike are renowned for their open homosexuality and bisexual tendencies. Homosexuality has been portrayed as normal throughout all of Japan for centuries. (If that was not made blatant by the openness in which Oda Nobunaga swung his sword in both directions during Edo.) And also too, polygamy was often practiced, mostly among the Nobles, but too among commoners. It was not ‘rare’ to see an Emperor or court official with more than one wife and a boyfriend on the side and it still not rare to see a married artisan with a Mistress or two.

Of course, that’s not to say there isn’t the occasional “black sheep” … A man who courts one woman, or one man, and refuses to so much as look at another.

But come now, how often is that?

In the regal city of Heian-Kyo (modern-day Kyoto), where the Emperor’s palace is located, resides a small sub-city within, known as the Red Light District.

In such a locale as the Red Light District, resides a brothel, several of them, really, but this specific one is male-centric. The name of this brothel is “Tsuki no Hikari” (月の光)literally, “Lights of the Moon”. Such a beautiful name, isn’t it- and fittingly so, as it is filled to the brim with nothing but beautiful men, dressed in kimono, piled high upon their bodies in wraps of silk, and their obi, traditionally tied in the back, instead tied in the front, making it easier to remove and retie again and again- they looked like women, hair grown as long as possible, make-up applied to their face. Their lips would be painted red and pouty over their natural lip-line, and their faces powdered chalk-white; their eyebrows would be shaved, and drawn in again with black paint and powders, , and their eyes would be lined with black, making them small, almond shaped … Beautiful. Just like a lady.

And these prostitutes would parade along the streets of Heian-Kyo, advertisement for their brothel, and they became increasingly popular for several decades, and still remain so, today.

Tensions are high in Tsuki no Hikari, as the “mistresses” vie for the most clients, and compete against one-another, both raising the popularity of the brothel, and making them more sought-after.

They’re sold as children, and raised as prostitutes. When they’ve come of age (around 14 or 15 years old), a bid is placed for the Mizuage, or virginity, and it is sold to the highest bidder. That is when they are permitted to begin their duties of pleasure.

It’s a very monotonous process.

However, there are some within the confines of the brothel who are tired of monotony, some, who simply want to be bought by their ‘Danna’ (lit Master or Husband), and become “mistresses”, and become spoiled and never have to work in that horrid place again, even if they do not truly love their buyer …

And there are some, still, who vie to find love of their own, and desire to find it without being bought, first. But that only causes pain, doesn’t it?

For a society so readily accepted by the country, things certainly seem lonely, don’t they?

Especially for those little black sheep who fall in love with another, or those blossoming butterflies who only desire to take and add to their collection, and those small baby blue-birds, who were taught nothing but to be beautiful and make people desire you- the World is a cruel, cruel place.

And sometimes, not even love can change that.

Setting:

It takes place during the Heian period; between the years 794-1185 AD. There is no certain place in mind for the setting of your character, as the roleplay takes place all over Heian-Kyo. Despite being able to choose where your character decides to spend most of their time, it is set mostly in the Red-light District.

Purinsu's Character(s)

Name: Kaneko (no) Ayame (Family name, given name)

Name Meaning: AYAME [Iris]

Rank: Entertainer

Age: 21

Personality: Ayame is a very kind, sweet person, though he can be considered a little fake and “two-faced”, as he acts differently around everyone. He loves to smile and laugh, believing it to be infectious, thus making people happy. He smiles even when he’s sad. When he’s happy, he’s typically very talkative and bubbly and energetic, constantly doing one thing, and then another, always willing to please. However, when he’s upset or angry, he’ll go off and pout silently, and give everyone the cold shoulder until his mood passes. He’s very intelligent for someone of his time, though he doesn’t always think idealistically, and will often end up causing trouble for himself or for other people. When newbies come in and cry about how terrible their life is, he gets angry and defensive, and scolds, but in a motherly sort of way. ’I’ve worked here for years, and I’ve yet to meet anyone who hasn’t had a bad life, and there’s no point in trying to compare who’s worse off, because frankly, we’ve all been through shit. So shut up and dry your tears- it’s best if you just forget everything prior to coming here, because this is your new home.’ He loves cute things, mostly cats and bunnies, and often sneaks them into the brothel when no one’s looking- he’s gotten in trouble many times for doing such a thing. He’s prone to wandering off and exploring without getting permission first, however, he would never dream of running away. He doesn’t like his line of work one bit, and has actually come to resent quite a bit, but if he were to run, he would only get caught, be punished, and then sent away to another brothel, a stricter one. He was fortunate to be sold here, where they take such good care of him. He’s not very competitive; however, he is when a certain person is concerned. He and his fellow entertainer are constantly vying for the spot as most sought after- they’re typically neck-and-neck, though they take time to gloat when one pulls ahead of the other; they’ve even been known to steal clients away from each other. It’s not hatred; Aya despises confrontation, but it’s rather only friendly competition. Ayame’s often said he’s a bit jealous of girls, because they can look so beautiful, so effortlessly. So far, he’s denied everyone who’s attempted to become his Danna, claiming ”I don’t love them, though!” Though many have tried to convince him that it’s not about love, so much as trying to pay off the rest of his debts and live a life of treasure.

History: Like all who come to the Brothel, he’s had a hard past, a past that he doesn’t mind talking about if he’s asked. He used to have a mother, just as he used to have siblings. He lived a farmer’s life with his mother, father, elder sister, and two younger brothers, one eight summers old, the other only four. They made a steady life as peasants and fish-mongers, though they had very little, they were respected by the others, because they gave them food and necessities. Ayame hadn’t always been named “Ayame”, in fact, it was only the name that the brothel keepers had given to him, an alias of sorts. In fact, his name had been “Miyuu”, spelled with the Chinese kanji for “Beautiful tenderness”. Miyuu often helped his father out in the fields, tending to the rice patties, and helping him make noodles. He was very sought after, even as a child, older men would often attempt to get into his good graces, simply for the thought of courting him when he came of age. He was a beautiful young boy with soft hair and big eyes, he almost didn’t look Japanese. He lived a remotely happy life- his big sister Natsumi always looked after him, and he in turn looked after his younger brothers, Ruri and Sanae. Then, things went down hill when he turned ten. His mother began to grow very sick, having developed a disease that they only ever seldom saw, and had no cure for (stomach cancer). They watched as she got worse and worse, eventually unable to move, unable to take care of herself. There was medicine available for purchase to prolong her life, supposedly to help cure her, but it was unbelievably expensive. They had no way to pay for it And so Miyuu’s father grew depressed- the night he was told there was nothing they could do, his father threw the fish he’d caught back out into sea, saying that ”tonight, we will go hungry, that way we can better understand emptiness.” And months passed- she was growing worse and worse by the day … When along came Miyuu’s twelfth birthday, and his mother seemed to be at her end. His father had grown brash and cruel and mean, often striking all four of his children for no reason, and treating them like trash; he’d assumed a mistress, even though they’d hardly enough money to pay for one and they grew even poorer, eventually to the point where court officials would hire soldiers to beat up the children and the old man himself, if the money was no produced. That was when his father did the unthinkable. Miyuu’s mother having finally passed away, he took Miyuu and Natsumi, and he sold them- sold them to brothels for extra money, enough money to pay off his mistress, and enough money to pay off his debts … Miyuu had never seen his lovely elder sister again, after that, and from then on, he was trained in the ways of a prostitute, having been given the name “Ayame”; don’t ask him what his real name is, because he wouldn’t be able to tell you, even if he remembered. At the age of 15, he’d sold his mizuage for a high price, and has been a common “whore” ever since. He doesn’t know what happened to his father or his mistress, or what happened to his dear baby brothers- he should care, but frankly, he just doesn’t. Because that life was only ever … A dream. This is his new life, the only life he should ever know.

Family: Tsubaki [Mother, deceased], Kantarou [Father], Natsumi [Elder sister], Ruri [Younger brother], Sanae [Younger brother], Takara [Father’s mistress]

Crush

Lover

Height: 172cm (roughly 5’8”)

Sexuality: Homosexual

Anything else: He’s a seke, though he prefers the bottom role over the top. He could be considered a bit of a Himedere, as well as a Tsundere. He likes being called “princess” and being pampered, but at the same time, he tries to deny it. He’s not one for sadomasochism or BDSM, preferring to be treated with kindness and gentleness, instead. After all, he’s a fragile little “flower”. He has two apprentices training under him- they brush his hair and help him get ready in the morning, and he in turn gives them extra portions from his meals for the help.

Looks: Ayame has long black hair that falls mid-back; it’s naturally straight and smooth- he doesn’t need soaps or powders to make it so, and he takes very good care of it. He typically decorates It with flowers and clips, but normally keeps it down, otherwise. His face is naturally pale, only made lighter with powders, and rather than shaving off his brows and redrawing them like most do, he merely applies powder over them, and lines them in darker, more shapely. His lips are naturally full and pouty, so as he doesn’t have to maneuver over the lip-line when applying his lipstick. He has a very slender and effeminate body with small shoulders, a thin waist, and “wider” hips; his cheek bones are high, and his eyelashes are unnaturally long- his eyes, also, are a bit bigger than any typical Japanese man’s, possibly hinting at mixed blood somewhere in his lineage, perhaps European and middle-eastern, when the Ottoman Empire sailed around the world. He has very long legs, a bit longer than his torso, and they’re very strong, from having worked in the fields most of his life, and running so often with his siblings. He likes pretty things, and wears normally bright-colored kimono, in pinks and red and yellows, though his obi is normally a dark color – purple or blue or green.

Face claim: Kagerou from Mede Shireru Yoru no Junjou

Name: Shirokawa (no) Ryuuichi (Family name, Given name)

Name Meaning: RYUUICHI [First son of the Dragon]

Rank: Shinto Priest

Age: 24

Personality: Ryuu is a very quiet man, and also very mysterious- it’s said that people are actually a bit afraid of him, because he’s always so silent. However, he’s not someone who should be feared, because he’s actually very friendly and kind. He is a High Priest, giving him responsibility over one of the many Buddhist, or Shinto, shrines in Heian-Kyo; he lives there in seclusion with several Buddhist Monks, and a Shinto Priestess he’s come to marry. It’s his job to make sure all prayers are delivered to the Kamisama and it’s a job he takes very seriously. He has a very silent and shy demeanor, though he’s not shy in the least- he’s actually very talkative once you prod him into conversation, and he can tell you tales and folklore passed down through the Shirokawa family for generations- his father himself was a Priest as well, before his passing. He’s very gentle and ginger, and always does things with thought beforehand; he’s almost a bit cynical. It takes a lot to upset him, but at the same time, it doesn’t- it merely depends on what you’ve done or said to him. That said, he can be very quick to cry, just as otherwise. He likes to sing and hum and play shamisen, as well as practice sutras and experiment with herbs and other medicines.

History: There’s not quite much to say about him- he’s lived a very peaceful life with his father, who taught him the ways of a Shinto Priest. He never knew his mother, as she passed away at his birth, however, that never deterred him, especially as his father never found another wife or a mistress to claim as his own. He was his father’s pride and joy, and his only child, so it only made sense that he follow in suit of his Daddy, right? Ryuu had begun his studies for Priest-hood since he was old enough to talk and comprehend, and he was accepted into the Shrine as a Monk at the age of 14. By 16 years old, he had become a Shinto Priest, only because (supposedly), like his father, he held another sense. He could “see” and “hear” Demons – Oni and Youkai – and had the ability to banish them. This is a load of bull, Ryuuichi knows, but he’d never said anything, not because he selfishly want the position, but because he knows no one, no matter how powerful, can see a spirit such as that, only pray to them- but it’s worth it, to see his people smile so fondly towards him for “taking care” of them. It’s also been said that he himself has the power to turn into a fox Youkai, though that is also only rumor, as he has no such powers. When he was 18, he fell in love with the Priestess that helps him run his Shrine, and eventually came to marry her. They currently don’t have any children, but they’re trying. He’s been known to have a few mistresses on the side, but he’s never once married anyone other than his wife, because he “loves her the most.”

Family: Mizuki [Mother- deceased], Aoba [Father- deceased], Hanako [Wife]

Crush:

Lover:

Height: 180cm (roughly 5’11”)

Sexuality: Bisexual

Anything else: He's a seke, perfectly capable of both topping and bottoming. Rumors have spread that he has the ability to turn into a fox youkai, but a kind one. It’s only rumor, and it a load of shit, however, he’s never stated differently. He does, however, keep a pet fox named Myuujikku, a white one, in which he’s painted various symbols and sutras on its fur to ward away bad luck and demons.

Looks: Ryuuichi has bright golden eyes, perfectly almond-shaped and almost seductive looking; his hair is short, only falling to the nape of his neck, and it’s pure, prematurely white. However, it makes him that much more alluring. Ryuu has broad shoulders and a wide chest, but a very slender waist and dainty fingers. His hands are a bit calloused from the field-work and shamisen playing that he does.

Name: Owyang Huang

Name Meaning[optional]: imperial, august, majestic

Rank: Imperial Consort

Age: 26

Personality: Huang isn't the most social. Oh, he knows how to act in social situations, but he would prefer to just be alone with one or two people at a time. He's standofish when the time for him to meet new people comes around, and he does have a jealous streak. Huang puts a lot into his looks and often finds himself preening under the attention that he recieves. He's very easy going when around people he knows, but always tries to remain composed and is never willing to share anything about himself unless he has to.

History: There isn't much to share that is worth sharing. His life was similar to many nobles; a good home, good food, and servants that were more than good to him. However, his father was known for raising his voice and that is what has made Huang as quiet as he is. He doesn't require anything, really, just like when he was younger. He never really had to look at the harsh aspects of life. Though he was able to be who he wanted, at least, around his only sibling- his younger sister. She would follow him around and he would do what he could to teach her what he knew. Though, as it would turn out, he shouldn't have bothered, as she wasn't to be taught the same as he was.

Family: Bai[Father], Lingfen[Mother], Ju[Sister]

Crush:

Lover:

Height: 5'10

Sexuality: Bisexual

Anything else: He is capable of both topping and bottoming in a relationship, as he feels that both of them give him equal pleasure, and, as long as his partner is happy, he would also be happy.

Looks:Huang has different coloring than most would expect; more exotic in a way, and that is why he's to be desired. His hair, however dark, is more of a charcoal gray than black. That isn't as abnormal as one would think, and it's not what draws others in. It's his eyes. They have more of a reddish tint to them. They do tend to make people uncomfortable, but they also tend to draw them in.

Name: Fang Peng

Name Meaning[optional]: the roc, a fabulous bird

Rank: Soldier

Age: 17[almost 18]

Personality: Peng is headstrong, to say the least. He tries to do what he thinks is right, but it doesn't always turn out that way. He's stubborn as well: when he wants something, he'll do everything in his power so that he could get it. Though he won't hesitate to listen to orders when they're given. He's kind and generous and tries to look after others before himself, but, in a way, he's selfish because he would rather make sure that he survives. He wants to survive with others- he doesn't just want to give his life for theirs.

History: Peng's life was of a simple farmer and merchant. His family would farm and sell a majority of the harvest, and he would help with this, but, around the time of his 16th birthday, he felt the need to do other things. He was watching as his family started having trouble with feeding him as well as four other children. Then, upon watching his younger sister loose her life due to an infection that wouldn't leave, he made a decision; he would join the army. Yes, it was a peaceful time, but that didn't mean that there was nobody power-hungry out there. So he left to become a soldier, leaving his parents and three of his siblings to have a better(hopefully) life without him. And, as the years progressed, he was slowly becoming a very talented young soldier.

Family: Gen[Father], Chen[Mother], Lan[Sister], Mei[Sister[deceased], Duyi[Brother], Liu[Brother]

Crush:

Lover:

Height: 5'7

Sexuality: Bisexual

Anything else: As he has never had a sexual partner before - not without offers, mind you - he can't determine what he prefers. He can't even determine if he prefers men more than woman or not, seeing as he finds both equally as attractive. Also, he does not like sharing his actual age- as he has been accused of not belonging at such an age before. If he can, he tries to make others believe that he is around 20. Peng has also heard rumors about how he might be in the ranking to stand guard at the palace, but he believes this all to be rubish.

Looks: Peng has long black hair that he prides himself in seeing as it is perfectly straight and has never once been cut. His eyes are such a color that they look more gray than blue, and his facial features are still caught in the middle of boyhood and adulthood. His cheeks arent' round enough to belong to a young boys, but still not chiseled enough to belong to a young adult.

Ayame

The little iris padded through town, zori tepping quietly on the dirtof the road, his long hair flittering behind him, and the tresses of his kimono swimming amongst the ground like silk being dyed in a stream ... The entertainer tucked a few strands of hair behind his ear, casting a coy look at a few passers-by. It wasn't often that he escaped the Red-light district and traveled deeper into the grand city of Heian-Kyo; it was obvious that some of the people there were undenounced to seeing prostitutes outside of the barbaric little town they had dubbed them all to be, blatant by some of the stares and glances the young man recieved. Or was it so much that, or the fact that he was pretty as a girl? Hm ... He pursed red lips together, rounding a corner, brushing his fingertips across the fabric of his obi, tied in the front as custom dictated; he was going to bypass a stand, when something caught his eye ah! Berries, fresh for the eating, settled quaintly on a small table. As Ayame approached, he politely asked how much they cost and after paying the seller, plucked a delicious red aple from its home, and scuttled on his way, hips sashaying two and fro as he did. Certainly, he'd get in trouble for having left the brothel, but it wouldn't be too severe, considering he wasn't fleeing.  He took a bite out of his fruit, scanning the area, when he paused, having caught sight of someone who, frankly, caught his interest. Not so much as in a sexual way (maybe a little), but more-so as in a ... Well, in a way! ... And so he approached him with uncanny steps, twirling a strand off soft hair around his index finger, he reached out, touching the stranger by the shoulder, before dipping his head in respect. He looked at him with deep brown eyes, half-lidded and sensual. "Well, hello<3"

Ryuuichi

The Shinto Priest hummed quietly to himself as he sat at the stream, helping his wife with work. It wasn't typical for a man to do such a thing, but Ryuu wasn't a typical man- Hanako was bed-ridden, pregnant with their first child, and was feeling especially ill today. And so he dutifully took over her chores, if but only for the day. Once he finished up washing the kimono and other garments, he decided it best to head off to town to buy fish and other supplies; he said a farewell to his resting wife, and slipped away quietly.

Huang:

The dark haired male turned his head to the side in some surprise, though it barely showed on his face. If one looked hard enough they would have witnessed the slight widening of his eyes, but that was all. Huang schooled his features quickly and he looked at the young man in front of him. At least, he assumed that it was a young man. Upon closer inspection, he realized that he was correct. From a distance he had seen him, though he had looked more like a woman and more out of place than anythng. However, Huang couldn't help but notice how attractive the other was, and even some of the appreciative looks that he was recieving. Did he come all the way out here to find more customers? Huang thought, looking at the boy in front of him. "Hello." He greeted the other. "Is there anything that I can help you with?" As it wasn't often that others approached him so casually, and especially not ones such as himself.

Peng:

Peng often found himself enjoying his life-style, even though he did think of his family often. He enjoyed fighting and learning new techniques. He even liked some of those he fought with- he had made fast friends with some of the other men. What he didn't like, however, was having to go into town just to get his sword sharpened. Normally he would do it himself, but his friends were insistant that one of the artisans in the city could do it much better, even if it was for a cost. So, Peng went and dropped off his weapon. However, seeing as he had plenty of time to waste, he decided to take a stroll through this part of the city. He might as well, anyway.

Ayame

Ayame thought for a brief moment, that perhaps he could get this man to pay for a night with him, even if they didn't end up doing anything adulterated- Ayame wasn't merely for sex, after all- the Entertainers of this time were also just that; they were paid as mistresses to keep the public company, whether that was having a few drinks, cuddling and talking, or fornicating. However, he suddenly though against it- he was tired of the mundane, so why not make the best of his time, hm? He took another bite of his apple, tipping to his head to the side, looking the stranger up and down- my, was he attractive! The effeminate escort hummed, tapping the side of his cheek and exaggerating his motions and every movement, before blowing a stream of hair from his mouth, sending his bangs flying for a moment, however brief. "Would you mind getting a drink with me?" He asked then, having decided on something simple enough for an offer, "I'm quite a good bit tired of spending my time, you know, doing what I do. I thought it would be wonderful if I could share a drink with someone ... Without all of the burdens that typically comes with it." And he flashed him a bedazzling smile, red lips stretched wide, and teeth displayed in the sunlight.

Ryuuichi

Ryuuichi ignored the glances- he was far used to them by now. He didn't look Japanese- he never truly had; he didn't have fine black hair or brown eyes like the others- he looked out of place, it was no wonder there were rumors about him flitting around non-stop; he shouldn't have been surprised when they'd first manifested ... With a hum, he turcked some hair out of his face as he inspected the produce some of the vendors had to offer, questioning them about their freshness, the quiality.

Huang:

He quirked an eyebrow at the younger male - as he was obviously younger than himself - and puzzled over the offer in his head. Normally he would never have given it much thought, but it wasn't very common for an entertainer to just ask for a drink. Besides, rarely anybody dared to go up and ask him off the street, and those that did he knew personally and wouldn't dream of it. But, with this one.. Why not? What would be the harm. "... I suppose I could handle having a drink with you." Huang said, his eyes flickering across the others face. "I'm Owyang Haung."

Peng:

"I'd suggest the strawberries. They're very juicy and they always get a new batch." Peng said, his voice seeming to startle the Priest beside him. He had seen the man before and had heard the rumors - aren't all rumors rubish though? - of the man, but that was as far as their meetings had gone. He was common in the city anyway, so it wouldn't be a surprise if he wasn't remembered by anyone, besides he had never even spoken with the man! However, he couldn't seem to help himself. Ever since he was young, Peng had been partial to strawberries and he had always been one to say his input where it wasn't wanted(or needed). "Please excuse my bluntness and my intrusion."

Ayame

"Owyang ..." He murmured the name easily off of his lips- where had he heard that name before, ah, he knew he'd heard it from somewhere ... It must have been incredibly important, isn't that right? But he simply couldn't place his finger on it- well, it would be bothering him the rest of the night, of course! "Owyaang-san ..." He decided to choose the safest route of honorific, seeing as he highly doubted he'd met this man in the past, and to be formal further, he called him by his family name, just in case. "My name is Kaneko Ayame- please feel free call me Ayame-chan." Not forgetting his manners, he dipped his head once more, took another bite of his apple, and then slipped it in his sleeve for later- such excessive silk of a kimono certainly came in handy, sometimes. "Well then, shall we go?" He cast him a coy look, batting his long lashes.

Ryuuichi

"Euah?" He turned his head, gazing at the man who was beside him, looking at him, and the strawberries, expecantly. He's a wicker basket in hand, one that Hanako had created herself, filled with berried, and fish wrapped in cloth. He'd no need to buy grains or rice, as he had a small field out in the back of the shrine for himself and his wife ... He looked the stranger up and down briskly- ah yes, he'd seen that face around every now and again, though not often in the least ... He was surprised- it was seldom anyone spoke to him of their own accord. "Iie, arigatougozaimasu ... I think I'll buy some, then, if you speak of them so genially." With that, he purchased a few dozen, setting them gingerly in his basket.  He looked back at the stranger- that attire- he was a soldier? Well ... He decided to be friendly. "I don't suppose you've any further advice to be handed out, do you?" His tone was gentle and serene.

Huang:

A delicate eyebrow quirked up to a peak as he looked down at the younger male. He certainly couldn't say that the man wasn't a beauty - that would be one of the worst lies that he ever told. "Well, then, Ayame-chan, I suppose that we should go." He said, his lips curling a little, the notion barely noticable unless you were truly looking. "It is a pleasure."

Peng:

The young man blinked a couple times, surprised that the priest actually took what he said to heart. Most people didn't do that. Especially over such silly ramblings such as what he just said(though he believed that there was no laughing matter when it came to the delicious red berry). "I'm sorry to say that I fail to have anymore advice to hand out. Though, I must ask, why take my word for it? I could just be standing here telling everyone to buy this keepers fruit because he's paying me. Or I could just be a rabid fan of strawberries." Okay, that wasn't the most tactfully said sentence in the world, but nobody ever said that Peng was full of tact. Far from it, to be honest.

Ayame

"You're telling me<3" He giggled, turning to walk with Huang, keeping only a pace or so behind him, rather than walking side-to-side- it was habit; he'd been trained to be led around my customers, and though this man wasn't a customer, it was hard not to do it like clockwork. "It's a wonderful day, isn't it, Owyang-san?" Another girlish bubble of giggles, "Or maybe not- it is a little gloomy, do you suppse it'll rain soon? I can feel the humidty in the air, ah ... I hope it doesn't get too hot, I hate sweating too much, especially when I sweat enough as it is." It was habit of him to drop innuendos, whethe ron the job or off the job- this man seemed to be no exception, handed blatant reminders of the kind of person Ayame was, if that couldn't be made obvious by the way his obi was tied around his waist.

Ryuuichi

Such words had actually brought a titter of an amused laugh spilling from his lips, and he looked at the stranger with an affinity that considered him childlike. "Well, you look like an honest enough man," He murmured, still a bit amused, "And unless you prove differently, I suppose I've no reason to believe you to claim blasphemy. .. FOrgive me, I'm being rude," He inclined at a minute angle to show his hospitality. "My name is Shirokawa Ryuuichi."

Huang:

The dark haired man turned his head to look back at Ayame, his eyes concealing most of what he felt, though he had caught what had been implied. Huang couldn't resist the gulp that he took then, though nobody would have noticed it unless they had been watching his throat for any such actions. He couldn't help but wondering what he had meant by that- or had he even meant anything by those words? Choosing to not voice any of his sudden thoughts, he casually replied, "I believe that if it rains it will be later on in the evening. There are clouds darkening towards the south, but that doesn't always mean that it'll hit."

Peng:

His lips curved upwards into a smile. "I know who you are. I'm Fang Peng, at your disposal." Peng said, bowing in respect. Then his eyes widened slightly as if noticed that his first words seemed a little less respectful and he tried to backpedal, stumbling over himself as he did so. "I only meant that it's hard not to know who you are, Shirokawa-san. You are pretty famous around here."

Ayame

"Mm ..." He glanced in the direction the man had afore mentioned, and he chuckled some, suddenly a bit subdued. "I suppose you're right, ne ... It's both fortunate and unfortunate, isn't it?" He glanced at Huang, looking up at him with large eyes feigning innocence, before looking towards the front again- he could see that drink shop up ahead. somewhere he frequented when he could for their variety ... Water, milk, various teas, sake, and beers ... But whenever he'd stopped in, it was almost always with a customer. Except for one time- "The first time I came here, my mentor brought me with his frequentor, and I was very young at the time, though almost an adult, and the ojiisans who worked here were kind enough to give me trinkets and tea to keep me entertained while the adults drank." He stopped in front of the entrance, as if waiting for Huang to enter first- that was exactly what he was doing.

Ryuuichi

How terribly amusing, his stumbling and fumbling. "Oh, I wouldn't consider it the good kind of fame, certainly." He murmured in a hospitable manner, running a brisk hand through his hair as he often did when embarrassed, "Well, Fang-san, it was nice to meet you- and thank you, for the strawberries. Hanako-chan will certainly enjoy them, I'm sure, as much as you seem to."

Huang:

"You don't need to wait for me, Ayame-chan." He said, pausing right outside the entrance to look at the young man. "We are going to the same place, after all." Then he walked straight in anyway, not quite sure why he bothered to say that if he wasn't going to let the other in first. Though, as soon as they were both inside the shop, Huang frowned. Originally he was going to go sit where his eyes had first landed, but the words that Ayame had spoken had finally caught up with him. "Why would your mentor bring you here with is frequentor?"

Peng:

"Good or no, you're still famous." Peng said, looking at the older man. "Maybe it isn't as bad as you seem to think." He offered with a smile and, upon meeting Ryuuichi's eyes he bowed once more. "You don't need to call me by something as informal as that, Shirokawa-san. I prefer to go by my given name rather than my surname." He paused a moment, as if mulling through his words. "It was a pleasure. I hope your wife enjoys them- I hear that she's expecting a little one. Congratulations to you both."

Ayame

He touched Huang's forearm gently, as if steering him to one of the many tatami mats and tables setting upon the floor; he knealt down on one of the pillows there, tucking the silk of his kimono under him as he did, as well as a few strands of raven hair. "Well," Ayame began, motioning the ojiisans for a list of their drinks. "You see, my mentor- Kyouko-senpai," Were they all given such girly names at the brothel? Perhaps that wasn't as strange as one might think; he paused in his words to order a tea, and waited politely for Huang to order as well, before he continued on, "Kyouko-senpai was orderd by oniisan to take me out, and show me one of the many things I would be expected to do when I came of age, and my mizuage was sold-" Not many people knew of the selling of a mizuage, or virginity, unless they frequented the brothels- Ayame had never seen this man around before, not just at Tsuki no Hikari, but in the Red-light district in general, so he could only assume it was seldom he made himself present, if at all, "And so he took me out, on the terms that I remain completely silent through the endeavor ... I went on many adventures with he and various customers ... EVen the dirty ones." He said all of this so easily, as if he bared no shame- though that certainly was not true; it all shamed him terribly.

Ryuuichi

At that, his eyes caught a glimmer of sunlight and lit up with joy. "Ah! Thank you! She believes it to be a boy, though I'm not quite sure, myself ..." He chuckled, before going on to say, "N-ne, I don't have to return for a while yet ... Would you like to accompany me on a walk?"

Huang:

His eyes widened considerably at the mention of the mizuage getting sold and he felt something distasteful on his tongue, and was forever grateful that their drinks arrived quickly. Huang took a drink of his green tea, still looking at the younger man. "How old were you?" He asked slowly, not quite certain that he wanted to know the answer. Nor was he sure that Ayame would want to talk about it.

Peng:

"I have heard that the woman always knows when it comes to these things." Peng said, his thoughts going towards his youngest siblings and inwardly smirking at the fact that it was half and half there. His mother had been right on the gender of one child, and wrong on another. The raven did have the grace to actually look surprised when the other continued on. "Me? Now make sure that you're certain of this, after all, I could be a criminal mastermind planning to murder you and walk away with those strawberries that you're carrying." He said the words as seriously as he could, but it was clear that he was anything but serious by the curling of his lips and the mischief in his eyes.
